PURPOSE
We are seeking a talented, team-oriented Multi-Media Graphic/Web Designer to
develop and apply inspired graphic design concepts for school-wide
Communications (including Admissions, Publications and Schoolwide
Administration).
He/she is expected to possess the technical skills and creativity to
contribute to a new generation of web and print communications
materials at JIS. The successful applicant’s work will convey high
caliber, compelling visual messages to key audiences with rich use of
photography. The JIS Communications/Publications office aims to become
an internal publication house with full pre-print layout and design
capability. The Multi-Media Graphic Designer will help create
copy-ready and web-ready work that can be used schoolwide to enhance
communication and emphasize JIS’s visual identity as a learning-focused
school.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES
1. Indonesian citizen
2. Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English and Indonesian
3. Two+ years experience in graphic design for both print and web
4. Strong creative design skills demonstrated in a diverse portfolio of work.
5. Keen interest and demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies in
new media. Highly proficient in design programs such as FreeHand, Adobe
Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and
Flash
6. Understanding of html, css & rss
7. Experience with digital photography imaging techniques and
applications for web and print publications. Photographic skills, a
plus.
8. Knowledge of electronic pre-press (experience working with print vendors and
printers helpful)
9. Ability to illustrate concepts for approval, to analyze information and make
recommendations
10. Ability to deliver a high-quality, high-value product in a useable format
to project managers
11. Ability to prioritize and manage work flow efficiently
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Capture and manipulate digital imagery for use in school communications
• Oversee electronic pre-press and pre-web activities so that
copy-ready designs can be efficiently printed commercially and posted
on our websites
• Create and employ complementary web and print layouts and concepts
for handbooks, guides, calendars, newsletters, presentations, reports,
publicity pieces, plus admissions and marketing materials
• Use the current JIS brand stewardship guidelines as a core from which
to make new interpretations and adaptations for use in print and web
applications
• Work with project managers and JIS Communications to visualize, plan, and
create the graphic designs needed to support and promote policies, educational
programs, conferences, events and schoolwide initiatives
• Work within tight deadlines with high level of creativity and interpretive
skill
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course
of work
