Hi, I have pushed some initial stuff for FASTA handling to github: https://github.com/choener/BiobaseFasta
and you can find it on hackage as well. Do not expect too much, but if you are happy with a sliding-window linear scan over your FASTA files, this library can be extremely fast. I have created it to deal with Terabytes of FASTA files ;-) On the other hand, this does not replace the fasta stuff in 'bio', which is much more high-level. Gruss, Christian
