Hi, fellow biohaskellers! It's a new - well, newish, anyway - year, and I thought it might be an idea to take a quick look at what's ahead of us. There's conferences coming up, notably ICFP in Copenhagen with it's cluster of sub-conferences and meetings, but also bioinformatics-related conferences (ECCB, ISMB, RECOMB...).
If anybody's going, perhaps it'd be a good idea to plan to meet and at least have an informal chat? Although (I think) only Christian and I were present at the BOSC codefest last year, I think it was a good way to get to know people, and a fun and useful way to get in touch with related communities. I notice one ICFP offshoot is the CUFP, although bioinformatics is only borderline commercial, CUFP seems equally targetted at _practical_ functional programming, and we're practical. Would it be an idea to present something about biohaskell in general there? Also, there's GSOC coming up - should we try to have a bioinformatics-related project in there? Anybody have something they'd like to see done, do we have anybody looking for a summer job, and anybody willing to supervise? -k -- If I haven't seen further, it is by standing in the footprints of giants _______________________________________________ Biohaskell mailing list Biohaskell@biohaskell.org http://malde.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/biohaskell
