I've checked in TranslatedSequencePanel, an alternative to SequencePanel which draws at low graphics coordinates even when zoomed in to the end of very long sequences. Plus it's faster. There's a seqviewer/FastBeadDemo in demos which is exactly the same as seqviewer/BeadDemo, but using TranslatedSequencePanel, if anyone is interested in comparing the two.
