Amit, One book that can give you a bit of an overview of the biology, computer skills, and on-line databases in the bioinformatics field is Developing Bioinformatics Computer Skills by Cynthia Gibbs and Per Jambeck.  I also recommend having access to a reference text on molecular and cell biology.
