I need suggestions on three related topics: I have written a SVG generating class for the SequencePanel output, using Batik, and I am wondering what our "policies" are regarding external package dependency (i.e. Batik, in this case)?
Also, I have two versions of PNG/JPEG generating code from SequencePanel, one using JDK 1.4's ImageIO class (much cleaner), and the other using Batik's (convoluted) bitmap generating scheme (not complete yet). I know that you people have been talking about converting biojava over to 1.4 - so where are we on this now? And finally, what would be a good name for the above class? SequencePanelExt? SequencePanelSVG? Or should I modify the SequencePanel altogether? Thanks in advance for any helpful insights.
