While snowshoeing in Killarney Provincial Park on Feb 10th, an immature
golden eagle was seen at Cranberry Bog. This large dark bird was viewed
circling in the thermals slowing climbing and moving east with the wind.
>From below, distinct white patches were visible at the base of the
primaries. The white band at the base of the long tail could be seen from
both above and below.

>From Barrie, Killarney Provincial Park can be reached going north on highway
400, then north on highway 69 and then east on highway 637. The park office
located at George Lake is 12 km east of the town of Killarney. From the park
office, Cranberry Bog is a 3 km hike east on the well marked Cranberry Bog
trail Snowshoes are recommended.
