With the possible re-appearance of the Red-necked Grebe in the St. Clair River found by Blake Man yesterday, and the interesting details provided by Bob and Glenda, it was a surprise to hear that yesterday,a PIED-BILLED GREBE was picked up off the road on Hwy 21 between the Lambton County Museum and the Pinery gate. The Feisty bird, identified by Tom Purdy was released by him into the only patch of easily accessible open water in the Park. (At the dam close to the store.) The bird dived and came up with a fish- and after having a snack, preened. Overnight the bird left.
Hope that this is of some interest.
Pinery Provincial park is South of Grand Bend on Highway 21 in N. Lambton County..
                         Good Birding. Alf.
