AMHERST I. [page 36, quad E54 & 55]

Bruce Di Labio reported for Apr. 13: "Highlights on Amherst included 16
LONG-EARED OWLS roosting in the "Owl Woods", one SNOWY OWL south of Stella
and two OSPREY on the osprey platform on the KFN property. Four ROUGH-LEGGED
and five RED-TAILED HAWKS were noted in the KFN property area. A flock of 9
BONEPARTE'S GULLS and 1 C. LOON were noted off the South Shore Road.

On Apr. 16 the North Leads Birders found one each of E. TOWHEE, E. PHOEBE
and GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET and a flock of 7+ LONG-EARED OWLS in the Owl
Woods. Large flocks of TREE SWALLOWS in the lee of Amherst I. and Nut I.
totaled 2,000. A lone GREATER YELLOWLEGS was in the small marsh north of the
school. ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS greatly outnumbered the few RED-TAILED HAWKS and
N. HARRIERS.



PRINCE EDWARD POINT, [page 35, quad G52 & 53]

April 14/03 Bruce Ripley reported: "3 RED-NECKED GREBES, 12 HORNED GREBES,
10 COMMON LOONS, 50 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, 8 SURF SCOTERS, 2 BLACK SCOTERS, 3
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, 3 VESPER SPARROWS, 6 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS, 2
FOX SPARROWS and GOLDEN-CROWNED
KINGLETS everywhere.

On Apr. 15, Joel Ellis & Bud Rowe reported a RED-NECKED GREBE, 2 HERMIT
THRUSHES, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, FIELD & FOX SPARROWS and large numbers of
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS.

I found a BARN SWALLOW by the Glenora Ferry dock and a N. ROUGH-WINGED
SWALLOW by the Traverse (both on Apr. 15).



OTHER SIGHTINGS

Paul Mackenzie on Apr. 16 reported: "There were over 100 BONAPARTE'S GULLS
and 20 male N. SHOVELER at the Amherstview Lagoons [page 36, quad D54],
{page 44, quad N3}. The gulls are feeding on the building at times. At
Collins Bay [page 36, quad D55], {page 45, quad M7} among many TREE SWALLOWS
were 2 BARN and 3 ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS."
