Ontbirders In response to recent inquires. Ontbirds advertising policy is still in effect. Two messages forwarded by myself yesterday were in violation of the policy.
Ontbirds is not a vehicle for the advertising of goods or services by either businesses or not-for-profit organizations. Effective immediately direct advertising is prohibited from this list. Posters to the list may continue to use a signature which identifies themselves and their business/organization and includes a URL for more information. The Ontbirds list is primarily for reporting birds in Ontario. While our main focus is on rare and unusual birds, we are also interested in reports illustrating regional patterns and distributions of more regularly occurring species. We also encourage the promotions of events and/or issues of interest to birders. Unlike bird sightings, Ontbirds requests posters of announcements to seek approval from the coordinator prior to posting to the list.
