Shortly there will be a post on OntBirds regarding a Pileated Woodpecker seen by several groups today at Point Pelee; some may be interested in the history of this species at Point Pelee.
In modern times there is only one other record; historically the species may have been more regular, but solid information is lacking. Although I am writing this from memory, the other record was in 1963 and the date was in September (I think the 17th). The record concerns a bird that was also seen in the Tip area, by people associated with the old banding station and possibly including John O.L. Roberts. Alan Wormington (not at Point Pelee!) ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
