The following birds have been seen over the past 3 days of casual birding. They are designated as 'uncommon' on the 'Birds of Carling Township Field Checklist' prepared by the late Jean Niskanen.
Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Ruffed Grouse, Spotted Sandpiper, Caspian Tern, Mourning Dove, Whip-poor-will, Belted Kingfisher, Pileated Woodpecker, Alder Flycatcher, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Gray Catbird, Pine Warbler, Indigo Bunting. Many other 'common' birds as well. The birds were seen on the road between the village and Rock Pine Resort, and from my boat.
