Hello, Is there any type of sightings website+database which people could make entries as to species+time+place via a form? I'm thinking of something that could be used to help coordinate confirmations of rare birds (i.e. 4 entries of the bulbous crested cheepadee in same area gets upgraded to "confirmed") and allow a user to generate a list for a location that could be restricted the last X weeks and level of rarity, i.e. "Point Pelee, last 4 weeks, extremely rare" or "RBG Hamilton, last 8 weeks, uncommon to rare", so the person would know what to be on the lookout for. Perhaps even a main page that would list all rare bird sightings in the past week, anywhere.
If there isn't such a website, would there be an interest in one? I have the skills to make such a site, so if anybody has the server resources (or knows an ISP, conservation authority or nature group who has them), I would be more than willing to donate some of my time to create the site. -- Cory C.
