I spent this morning (Sunday, July 20) at Cranberry
Marsh in south Whitby, with excellent results. The
north platform produced marsh wrens, swamp sparrows,
and a Forster's tern, along with several species of
ducks and grebes (not identifiable from our distance).
We heard the Virginia Rail seen by Doug Lockrey last
week, but we could not pinpoint its location.
The beach area revealed Bonaparte's Gulls, Killdeer,
and several species of sandpipers.
Aside from these sightings we noted a Northern
Harrier, Bobolinks, and many other common species.
Good Birding!
