RARE BIRD REPORT
The GRAY KINGBIRD reported at the Amherstview Sewage Ponds the morning and
afternoon of July 26 by Owen Weir and his wife and Harold Bridger was NOT
SEEN SINCE.

I was on the KFN Property on the morning of July 28. Highlights were: 1
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, 1 SNOW GOOSE, 2 OSPREY several SEMIPALMATED
PLOVER and SANDPIPERS, 2 GR. and 10 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1 UPLAND SANDPIPER, 5
SANDERLING, 8 LEAST SANDPIPER, 1 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, 1 WILSON'S SNIPE,
40 BLACK TERN and 1 SHORT-EARED OWL, 6 MARSH WREN, 1 AM PIPIT.
On Aug. 3, Paul Mackenzie reported: A STILT SANDPIPER is still at the bar on
Amherst, and 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS among some LESSER YELLOWLEGS at the
Amherstview Lagoons [page 36, quad D54], {page 44, quad N3}.
DIRECTIONS: The ferry to Amherst I. leaves from a dock at the western side
of Millhaven. It is reached from the 401 by taking exit 593 south to
Millhaven. Jog right about 100 m. On Hwy 33 to the dock. The ferry costs
$5.00 Cdn return and starts at 6:20 a.m. Then 7:30 and thereafter on the
half hour. The KFN property is on the east side of the Lower Road.
OTHER SIGHTINGS
Erwin Batalla reported an adult LITTLE GULL at the Amherstview Lagoons [page
36, quad D54], {page 44, quad N3}.
I have heard CAROLINA WRENS calling daily from the CFB Kingston and from
several spots in the Cartwright Point area. An EASTERN SCREECH OWL has been
calling from a tree behind #14 The Point Rd. PINE WARBLERS are still singing
by The Point Road. [P36, D56], {page 48 & 49, quads N20 & M21}
