OFNC BIRD STATUS LINE - SEP 14 2003 AT 5:45 PM
This is a Rare Bird Alert. An AMERICAN AVOCET was at the
Chesterville sewage lagoon, discovered at 3:15 PM today.
The directions to the sewage lagoon are: Take Hwy 31 south to the
43. Turn east on the 43 into Chesterville. Look for Queen Street.
Follow Queen St. east until Main St. Main St. becomes Water St.
Turn right onto Water St. and look for the dam on the river on
your right hand side. Keep following Water St., it becomes a
gravel road which will take you to the lagoon - look for a raised
berm on your left.
The Avocet is in the small north-central cell, which requires a
bit of walking and crossing a fence. The bird was still feeding
here at 5:45 PM.
