Observations: As yesterday the flight began slowly, building up abruptly on the noon hour. Many of the birds were well to the north, making wielding the spotting scope continuously necessary. This was frustrating to say the least, particularly as there most likely was a significant movement of Broad-wings going on out of the view of the counters. The day was not without its moments, however, as the 27 Ospreys tallied tied a single day high count for the watch. A very cooperative Merlin perched for several minutes in a large maple a few hundred yards from appreciative onlookers. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ The primary site used by Southeastern Michigan Raptor Research (SMRR) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
