Hello,

The American Avocet was still present at Chesterville this morning. The
bird was very active and spent time in at least 4 different cells. When
I left it was swimming in the southwest cell. The bird also spent an
unusual amount of time associating with a female Blue-winged Teal. It
followed the teal almost bill to tail for 1/2 hour. Also present were 3
Greater Yellowlegs, 12 Lesser Yellowlegs, numerous Killdeer and 2
Semipalmated Plover.

It should be noted that a previous post mentioned access from the Nestle
Plant. This plant is closed on the weekend so access is off Water
Street.

To get to the Chesterville, from Ottawa, head south on Highway 31 to
#43. Take #43 east and then turn left on to Queen Street. Take Queen
east to Main, south on main to Water street. Take Water street around
the dam until it turns into a dirt road. You will drive past a
cornfield and the lagoons will be on your left. Enter at your own risk
and you may be under video surveillance.
