A good build up of cumulous clouds was very welcome and aided the spotters for much of the day. Observations: As it turned out, yesterday was just the preamble to a larger Broad-wing flight and much to the delight of those gathered for Hawkfest, many of the kettles were overhead. This is where much of the movement was throughout the day despite the southeast wind. Perhaps it was a result of a favorable flow in upper level winds that the birds were on this flight path rather than a more northerly one typical of southeasterlies. Included in the Broad-wing groups were two dark morphs and a light morph adult Swainsons Hawks, the first of this species for the season.
