Winds were from the west and variable in intensity, usually picking up just before the intermittent showers. Observations: The flight was spread out, as is typically with west winds. The unstable weather was actually a blessing as it often brought birds low over the count area. One kettle of Broad-wings was noted dropping directly out of a low cloudbank when they would have been missed otherwise. The flight overall was steady from start to finish if not heavy with one of the better Sharp-shin movements so far along with continued good showings from Merlins and Peregrines. An additional observation of note was of a single Common Nighthawk just before the heavier showers in mid afternoon. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ The primary site used by Southeastern Michigan Raptor Research (SMRR) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
