Greetings Ontbirders,
I just returned from several days (October 8-12) of camping in Lake Superior
Provincial Park and
although I wasn't focused on birding, I did note some interesting observations.
The park was
inundated with Lapland Longspurs, Horned Larks and American Pipits - along all
the roadways, parking
lots and shorelines. Many were being road-killed by the heavy traffic along
Highway 17.
I also saw:
Black-bellied Plover (1) at Old Woman Bay
Black-backed Woodpecker (1) at the junction of Gamitagama Road and Hwy 17
Bald Eagle (4 adults) various locations
Sharp-shinned Hawks (numerous migrating) - appeared to be following the
Superior shore

Lake Superior Provincial Park is located along the north shore of Lake Superior
between the Montreal
River and the town of Wawa. The Trans Canada Highway (Hwy 17) travels through
the entire north-south
length of the park. The scenery throughout the park is spectacular!

Happy autumn birding!
