Verkley for helping out Keith as a counters today. They actually did the count just north of the Cliff along the Sparta ridge. Thanks too to Alf Rider who helped cover the Cliff site itself along with several visitors including Irene and Dorothy from Chatham who helped find the only Osprey of the day :) Thanks to all who helped out...we really appreciate it. Weather: PLEASE NOTE***** I'm resubmitting the counts for the 24th to ensure I include the additional counts provided by Alf Rider from the Cliff site itself. They were independent of the counts done by Keith, Mike and Dave at a site just north of the Cliff site. Lots of cloud cover in the morning with light winds initally out of the W. Winds eventually swung to the SW and got a bit stronger while the sun broke through by midday. Temp made it to 13 today. Observations: Another 1000+ count for today with mostly TV's and Red-tails with just over 400 of each. Had 2 more Rough-legs and 4 more Golden Eagles...and plenty more to come :) Most interesting bird today was described as a dark Red-tail...with dark reddish-brown colouration on the body and wing linings all finely barred with black wingtips and translucent secondaries and tertiaries and most of the tail. The tail had a dark, narrow sub-terminal band and thin white terminal band. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch: Oldest Hawkwatch in Ontario - since 1931 - located just east of Port Stanley on the cliff overlooking Lake Erie [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit http://www.ofo.ca/ontbirdsguide.htm for information on leaving and joining the list.
