Hi Everyone,
This morning (Saturday), I decided to check out the Erieau area in search
of swallows and was immediately rewarded with a terrific look at 1 CAVE
SWALLOW that as flying around and perching on the side of St. Anne's Roman
Catholic Church just inside the Erieau limits. It remained for quite a
while until I left for the pier.
Travelling down to the pier area, I found a second Cave Swallow on the
window sill of the Erieau Fish Packers Plant. It sat on the sill for at
least a half hour and then proceeded to fly around the channel and the
gravel piles where 6 of them were present almost exactly 4 years ago (Nov.
4, 1999). The 4 of us present had terrific looks.
On the way out of Erieau, about a mile up the road, Blake Mann found a third
individual near "The Onion Place".
I'll continue to check the area in the next few days and keep you updated on
continued sightings.
Erieau is located south of Highway 3 between Blenheim and Cedar Springs in
Kent County, at the end of the Erieau Road. The pier is at the far east end
of the Erieau Road and the sand piles and fish plant are on the left hand
side.
          Steve
