Hi Birders, Just a little more detail about the Townsend's Solitaire found in Pinery Park late this afternoon (Sunday). As mentioned in Alf Rider's report, myself and a few others observed an adult Townsend's Solitaire just before 5 p.m. It was first spotted and identified by Lance Allin. It was frequenting the former burn area of dead trees around the entrance road to the meeting centre near the maintenance compound. Although Alf mentioned a possible 2 birds, we could only positively i.d. one. This is at least the fourth record for the park, and all have turned up this time of year.
To find this area enter the park and head towards the store. Turn right and go over the bridge and follow the main road as it heads towards the beach parking areas. There is a road on the right side going to the maintenace compound, then just past that road is another road going to the meeting centre (which also leads to the maintenane cpd.). The Solitaire was at this corner perching on snags, and flying into nearby cedar trees. Pinery Provincial Park is on Hwy 21 a few kilometres south of Grand Bend. Day pass required when park is open. ________________________________ Blake A. Mann Wallaceburg, Chatham-Kent, Ont. [EMAIL PROTECTED] "B. A.
