Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Keith Sealy

Observers: Dave Brown, Matt Oswald, Shay Redmond, Su Ross

Visitors:
Lots...including the gang from Buffalo (Jim, Bill, Fran and I think Bob??),
also Brian and his son from London, and Chas who was helping Keith with
the count today...especially of Redtails :) There were a few others there
as well...John (can't remember his last name), Cecil and ???? (his buddy's
name has eluded my tired brain) and finally a mother and son from
Hamilton. Thanks to everyone who helped wpot today,,,there was certainly
lots to see :)

Weather:
First thing in the morning there was a squall / snow shower coming off the
bottom end of Lake Huron south to Hawk Cliff on the north shore of Lake
Erie. The snow was almost enough to make the counters give up...BUT
suddenly an hour later the snow let up and WOW!! ....this is the way the
weather should be for late fall hawk watching...the perfect clouds and sun
with a good northerly wind (mainly NE for the day). Very cool temps as the
mercury dipped to -4 over Friday night and struggled to get back up to 0
at the start of the count time. High eventually got to just 3.

Observations:
Just a ton of raptors moving out today...seems they've had enough of the
old nights :) The real treat today was a total of 21 Golden Eagles!!
Other awesome numbers including Redtails (1977) and Red-shoulders (101)
along with some really nice Roughlegs (12) including a couple dark-phase
birds. Most interesting bird of the day was a partial albino Redtail...it
looked like someone had taken a paint brush and painted white stripes
across his wings and back...really quite eye-catching. I'm hoping a couple
of those with cameras got a shot of it and maybe I can get them posted on
our website.

Tufted Titmouse (possibly a pair) continue to be seen along the road down
to the cliff. They've been around now for a couple of weeks.

Predictions:
Sunday looks like another bright sunny day...and even with predicted SW
winds I'm sure we'll see another good push of birds throughout the area.
