Over the 0830 to 1230 time period on Nov.26 the 5 Cranberry Marsh Raptor
Watch observers had only 2 Red-tailed Hawks migrating.
Now, read my last sentence, then come back.
At 1015 a Swallow was annouinced by Dan Kaczynski, to the east --it spent
about 1 hour flying low and high above the alder island--we were able to fix
in on buffy patterns, but refused to say Cave yet. Then at 1115 the bird
decided to spend most of its time flying along the rivulet extension in
front of our platform--we had many great binoc and scope views, and when he
finally flew over and very near us we were able to detect the darkish face.
All of the features that I submitted to the OBRC for the Nov.7 bird were
noted today. Today's bird was extremely active, undoubtedly perching low on
occasion, hidden by the catttails, but not for more then 10 minutes at any
one time.
Most observers said "thanks" and "goodbye" around 1230.

Now then, I just had a phone message from Jean Iron--some time after I left
a Sharp-shinned Hawk came in to attack and take our Cave Swallow.
