Hi all:
We just got back from Cayuga. We( some 20 observers) saw the Gray Flycatcher
from 10:15 AM to 11:59 AM. Sunday Dec. 28. We left some birders with the bird
as some 10 more watchers were streaming across the field to see it.
The Flycatcher was immediadely East (LEFT or uphill) of the Cattail marsh, in
the clearing north of the rusty 'pump machinery' past a downed wooden gate. It
foraged at the edge of the northern fence almost all the way up to the "iron
gate" where the three fences meet before flying back into the Hawthorne
shrubbery valley north of the 'rusty iron machinery' close to the taller adult
"beech-hickory-maple" woods.
This time, after the lovely frosty icicles had melted off the shrubs, the bird
was not only foraging close to the ground, but it sunned itself on four
occasions by standing up in the tallest branches of the shrubs ( up to 10
metres ( 30 feet) high!
{{ Elisabeth, "our Queen", I hope you are all right))
Best Wishes to all for a productive and prosperous 2004 New Year.
And a Happy cheer to our feathered friends.
