Lots of reports this week. So many in fact that the best way to deal with them is to list the location and the birds seen there. Here it goes... Hendrie Valley - WINTER WREN, CAROLINA WREN, GRAY CATBIRD, BROWN THRASHER, and RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER Desjardins Canal/Dundas Hydro Ponds - PIED-BILLED GREBE, HOODED MERGANSER, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, GREAT BLUE HERON, and BELTED KINGFISHER Hopkins Tract (RBG) - EVENING GROSBEAK, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, NORTHERN FLICKER, and BROWN CREEPER Spencer Creek Trails - WINTER WREN, CAROLINA WREN, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, BROWN CREEPER, and PILEATED WOODPECKER Behind the Arena on Olympic Drive - NORTHERN HARRIER, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD, GRAY CATBIRD, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, and 4 YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERS Kerncliffe Park, Burlington - BOHEMIAN WAXWING, NORTHERN GOSHAWK, NORTHERN SHRIKE, and AMERICAN ROBIN Hamilton Harbour - two adult BALD EAGLES, LONG-TAILED DUCK, and RED-BREASTED MERGANSER Other local reports include thousands of COMMON GOLDENEYES, LESSER & GREATER SCAUP, and BUFFLEHEADS on the lake at Shoreacres/Paletta Park, COOPER'S HAWK at LaSalle Marina, KING EIDER and WHITE-WINGED SCOTER at L.P. Sayers Park on the Stoney Creek lakeshore, plus six WILD TURKEYS at Southbrook Golf Course in Binbrook and another three near Highway 56 and Kirk Road. Further afield flocks of 4 and 13 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were seen at the Smithville Sewage Lagoons, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and NORTHERN HARRIER were reported near Fisherville, a dark morph RED-TAILED HAWK was discovered at Mount Healy, which is just west of the Grand River south of York, and in what has become an annual spectacle, hundreds of RED-TAILED HAWKS and at least one TURKEY VULTURE have been attracted to Sunnybrook Chicken Farm south of Caledonia. Last but not least, this week's yard reports include PINE SISKIN and RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH in Carlisle, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, SONG SPARROW, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW and AMERICAN GOLDFINCH in Beamsville, plus SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, COMMON REDPOLL and PINE SISKIN in Ancaster.
