While my wife and I were unable to relocate the Snow
Goose found by Blake Mann on Sunday, we did find an
adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE around 11:00 this
morning. The bird was on the ice at the end of Exmouth
street, and slipped a few times as it wandered about.

Sarnia Bay itself is almost completely frozen over,
although there are still groups of birds sitting on
the ice or swimming just out from the ice.

Also, there is still a large raft of waterfowl off the
beach at Canatara Park - mainly REDHEADS and SCAUP,
but possibly others. I did not have a scope with me,
or the time to sort thought them, so who knows what I
missed (unfortunately).

GREATER BLACK-BACKED GULLS are also around here and
there. At least one in the bay and one near the
Greater White-fronted Goose.

And just for general interest, we counter 12 Red Tail
Hawks along the 402 between Sarnia and London, and
likley missed a few others.

Directions

Follow Hwy 402 west and exit at Front St (last exit
before the bridge). Take Front st south, turn right on
Exmouth (the first set of lights), and follow it west
about 1.5 kms past the grain elevators on the left and
around the bend until it ends at the marina. The goose
was in the channel which runs parallel with the St
Clair river.

Canatara Park is at the North end of Christina St.
>From the intersection of Front St and Exmouth, take
Exmouth EAST to the next set of lights, turn
LEFT, and travel NORTH on Christiana st through 2 sets
of lights. The park entrance will be on your left
shortly after the second set of lights.

Another good place to check (with a scope) would be
from the parking lot on Front St, at the foot of
London Rd. Travel south on Front st from the 402.
The parking lot entrance is immediately after the Gas
Bar.
