Posting on behalf of Charlene Goll:

While birding the Kincardine area today Gerard McNaughton and myself
were able to locate the Townsend's Solitaire. The bird spent a good portion
of its time in the cedar trees immediately west of Hillcrest cottage. It
also
spent time in juniper and buckhorn trees eating fruits. This being a life
bird
for myself allowed great views. Many thanks to James and Simon for their
help in locating the bird. Also observed flying overhead was an adult Bald
Eagle
and Common Redpolls were also present around the cottage.

To get to the bird coming from Port Elgin take Hwy #21 south to Tiverton and
travel down Bruce Rd #15 to Inverhuron and turn right onto Victoria St.. Go
to the end and turn left on to Cayley St.. Park on the side of the road and
walk west towards the lake. Coming from Kincardine travel north on Hwy #21
to Tiverton and turn left onto Bruce Rd #15 and follow directions as above.

Other birds observed today included a large Snowy Owl (presumably young
female) on Highway 21 at the 8th Concession North of Underwood. A
flock of 13 Wild Turkeys were on Bruce Road 20 just East of the
generating station. Flocks of Horned Lark and Snow Bunting also put
in an appearance.

Happy Birding
