We stopped briefly at the Smithville Lagoons (just east of Village of
Smithville on Reg. Road 614) after hawk-watching at Beamer most of the day
(Sandhill Crane was the highlight; a few hundred raptors, most high and
distant; Purple Martins, Fox Sparrows, R-c Kinglets). There were quite a
few ducks at the lagoons. Rough numbers follow:
Pied-billed Grebe 1
N. Shoveler 6
Green-winged Teal 6
Blue-winged Teal 1
Redhead 7
Ring-necked Duck 40
Greater (?) Scaup 1
Lesser Scaup 8
Bufflehead 8
Ruddy Duck 1
Also, one Rough-winged Swallow.

Good birding!
