The Black-necked Stilts were still at Townsend, when I left there at 11:30
this morning( although another report just said they may have left just as I
was leaving). Other birds seen were Eared Grebe, three Wilson's Phalarope,
one Black-bellied Plover, and eight Dunlin.
Cheers Tom Thomas.
The Townsend sewage lagoons can be found by following the sign for
Townsend, which is on #6 highway south of Hagersville, turn left on Keith
Richardson Parkway, and continue to the second turning on the right, which
is County Rd.14. The Lagoons are just up the road on your right, park well
away from the gate, as trucks will be turning in. Remember there are no
trespassing signs posted, so be aware of this. All the birds were found in
the first cell, the only one with a mudflat. As an aside for those
interested, you may want to check out the nesting Ring-billed gulls for a
close up view of their eggs and nesting behavior.
Cheers and good luck........Tom Thomas.
