On the final day of the Birdfinders tour of s.w.Ontario & N. Michigan,
we birded to Niagara, then Toronto. At Jarvis was a BN Stilt,2
Wilson's Phalaropes, Greater & Lesser Yellowlegs, Spotted, Least &
Semip. Sandpipers. No Tricolored Heron at Rock Point. No Wilson's
Plover in Hamilton but SB Dowitcher, White-rumped Sandpiper, 4
Semipalmated Plovers, etc. At our last stop before the airport, we set
a new record for this 2-week tour with our 237th species: a 2nd-summer
Glaucous Gull off Sir Sam Smith Pk. at the foot of Kipling Ave. in
Etobicoke. Also seen were C Loon, 4 Long-tailed Ducks in breeding
plumage, a sub-adult male Surf Scoter, and 4 Ruddy Turnstones.
Many thanks to all our Ontario birding friends ( and several
from the U.S. and Britain ) for their great help in locating species
throughout this trip.
Dave Milsom
