> This is Chris Lewis reporting.

> Most of the expected spring migrants have moved through our region
> and breeding birds are now on territory.
>
> With regard to rare birds locally, the LAZULI BUNTING in Bells
> Corners was last reported on the evening of May 31st but not since
> then. A BREWSTER'S WARBLER was seen and heard singing along the
> railway line well east of the railroad trestle over Huntmar Dr.
> north of Richardson Side Rd. west of Kanata on June 6th. A Blue-
> gray Gnatcatcher was found on June 1st near the boat launch at
> Rosenes and Gibeault Streets in Deschenes on the Quebec side.
> Seven Red-necked Phalaropes were on the Ottawa River east of
> Deschenes the same evening, and another Red-necked Phalarope was
> in the southwest cell of the Embrun sewage lagoons on the morning
> of June 6.
>
> Two American Bitterns were in the marsh west of Moodie Drive
> between Nortel and the Equestrian Park on the morning of the 6th,
> and a Least Bittern was heard here in the early morning of April
> 29th. At least 6 Marsh Wrens were singing in this location on May
> 3rd.
>
> An adult Black-crowned Night-Heron was at the east end of Mud Lake
> in Britannia and 24 Bonaparte's Gulls were at the Deschenes rapids
> on the 6th. Nine Ruddy Ducks and an American Coot were seen in the
> large pond on the east side of Moodie Dr. south of the Trail Rd.
> landfill on the 6th as well.
>
> A visit to the Richmond fen on the night of June 4th produced 2
> YELLOW RAILS and 4 Sedge Wrens. Two territorial male Sedge Wrens
> have also been singing in the Morris Island area in the large fen
> along Logger's Way between DeWolfe Rd. and Lighthouse Lane for at
> least the past 10 days.
>
> Also of local interest are nesting Ospreys - the nests at Fitzroy
> Harbour and along the Thomas Dolan Parkway at Constance Creek both
> have young. Several Black-billed Cuckoos and Eastern Towhees were
> present in the Carp hills along the Thomas Dolan Parkway on the
> 6th, and 16 breeding species of warblers were found in Gatineau
> Park on June 4th, mainly in the vicinity of the Huron and Western
> trail network.
