Just before noon this morning Alan Smith, Brian Ahara and I found an adult
Willet at Jones Beach, Port Weller, St. Catharines. The bird was observed
mostly resting on the shoreline of Lake Ontario at Jones Beach, but it did
make several very short flights along the beach revealing its amazing
underwing pattern.

Directions: Take the QEW to St. Catharines and exit at Niagara Street. Go
north to the T junction at Lakeshore Road, turn right and cross over Lock 1
of the Welland Canal. Immediately after crossing the canal turn left onto
Broadway Avenue. Continue north to the lake at the end of the road, there
is a small parking area there. Look for the bird along the east end of the
beach where it was associating with gulls and terns.
