Hi All!
Posting for my Dad, Marvin Smout who saw over 80 Caspian Terns on the east
breakwater of Port
Stanley Harbour last evening at 7pm. This is the most Caspians he has ever
seen in the Harbour at
once. Dad said they were busy walking up, down and over the breakwater and
were difficult to
count because they were so active.
Directions to Port Stanley Harbour, take the Wellington Road exit of the 401
south to the lake.
Good Birding ,
Ellen Smout

Hi Eastern Ontario birders,
Joel Ellis and I found a Buff-breasted Sandpiper in a field with Kildeer
and Black-bellied Plover on Sat. Aug. 28 about 10.00 am.
Plover and Horned Larks are scattered in this large field, and the
Buff-breasted was rather inconspicuous near green weedy patches on the
south part of the mostly brown field, and less than 1/3 of the way across
the field from Fralick Road.
Directions.
From highway 401 exit km 593 (county road 4) south to highway 2. Go west
about 6 km to Morven and turn south on Fralick road about 1-2 km.
The field is a recently planted one just south of a large corn field on the
west side of Frolick Road, south of Big Creek Road and north of Withers
Road. (If you follow Big Creek Road west you will find a few shorebirds
along the creek and come out on county road 8.)
Paul Mackenzie,
Kingston, Canada.
