To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Highlights of reports received October 21 through October 28 from the Niagara Frontier Region include GOLDEN EAGLE, BLACKPOLL WARBLER, L. BLACK-B. GULL, FOX SPARROWS and a field trip report. In the City of Buffalo, the afternoon of October 26, a juvenile GOLDEN EAGLE was reported by two observers at two locations - over the Delaware District and the Times Beach Nature Preserve on Fuhrmann Blvd. Including the GOLDEN EAGLE, over 60 raptors of 5 species, migrating on northwest winds, have been observed this week from the new observation area at Times Beach. October 24 and 25, a late BLACKPOLL WARBLER was reported in a Williamsville yard in the Town of Amherst. The 24th, in the Town of Wilson, an almost-late BL.-THR. BL. WARBLER. October 22, one of the warblers expected during late fall, an ORANGE-CR. WARBLER, in Blasdell. And, October 27, a late LINCOLN'S SPARROW at Amherst State Park. October 24, an adult L. BLACK-B. GULL was found at an unusual location - away from the Niagara River, on Campbell Blvd. in the Niagara County Town of Cambria. On the Niagara River, a L. BLACK-B. GULL has been reported several times at the control gates above the Canadian Falls. Also at the falls, a BRANT, 30 AMERICAN WIGEON, 350 GREATER SCAUP and 5 COMMON GOLDENEYES. FOX SPARROWS were noted this week in Amherst, Lancaster, Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo, Golden Hill State Park in Somerset and in Ashford. The FOX SPARROW in Ashford was in a flock of 15 CHIPPING SPARROWS and 25 DARK-EYED JUNCOS. The BOS field trip to the Lake Ontario Plains on October 23 reported 75 species. On the lake, hundreds of COMMON LOONS, six each of RED-THROATED LOON and RED-NECKED GREBE, over 20 HORNED GREBES and numbers of BRANT, AMERICAN WIGEON, NORTHERN SHOVELER, SURF SCOTER, WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, BLACK SCOTER, LONG-TAILED DUCK, BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON GOLDENEYE and RED-BR. MERGANSER. Numerous WOOD DUCKS were found along the roadsides. At Golden Hill, 2 EASTERN SCREECH-OWLS. Other species throughout the plains - SHARP-SH. HAWK, COOPER'S HAWK, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, EASTERN PHOEBE, HORNED LARK, HERMIT THRUSH, AMERICAN PIPIT, AMER. TREE SPARROW, SNOW BUNTING, RUSTY BLACKBIRD and PINE SISKIN. Other reports this week - BALD EAGLE at Wendt Beach in Evans and the Cattaraugus County Town of Farmersville. Eleven GREAT EGRETS at the Iroquois Refuge and 3 GREAT EGRETS in the Fort Erie marshes. Small numbers of SNOW GEESE at Iroquois and on Lake Ontario. At Sinking Ponds in East Aurora, 32 WOOD DUCKS plus YELLOW-B. SAPSUCKER and 2 PILEATED WOODPECKERS.
