At 0910 several of us witnessed a "sight to behold" that I, among others, favour calling a GYRFALCON; improper lighting allowed us to see only its silhouette-- the bird sailed westward along the waterfront to our south through the tops of the barrier beach willow trees. Yes, it may have been a Goshawk, but, to me its wings and tail were those of a falcon, not an accipiter. It did not flap noticeably. I'll leave it there for the time being. Over a period of 5 hours of very gusty northwesterly winds 82 migrants were recorded, 25 of which were Rough-legged, making 203 for the count to date (in 1991--we had 222), 45 were Red-tailed, 5 were TVs.
