The Golden-crowned Sparrow is in its 4th day at the Cranberry Marsh south pathway --but, after 11AM it was not on its "every 10-12 minutes routine". Indeed, I was so sorry that some of my dear friends came to see it around noonhour--after 60 minutes they had to leave--guess what Kay & Bill & Marnie-- it came in for a great 2 minute stop & pose show just after you left. I do not know whether the Barred Owls were seen today along the north pathway.
As for the hawk watch-- 18 Rough-leggeds came through, increasing the total to 265--that eclipsing the previous record of 222 (in 1991). Also 29 Red-taileds and 2 N.Harriers were counted. Pine Siskins were seen and heard, and a N.Shrike is always "entertaining", cavorting about after Blue Jays, being cheered on by a very close Chickadee. Exit 401 at Salem, south to Bayly, east through LakeRidge, to the first street (Hall's Rd.), south to the second roadside parking area. Doug Lockrey, coordinator CMRW
