Hi Ontbirders,
 
There was a male Barrow's Goldeneye easily visible on the Rideau River by 
Strathcona Park this morning (Tuesday) around noon.  He could be seen equally 
well from the Tennis Club side along River Road North.  He was with about 
twenty Common Goldeneye, five Common Mergansers, & a number of Hooded 
Mergansers.  A Great Blue Heron was also present.

Directions:  From Hwy 417 (East) take the Vanier Parkway exit heading north.  
Exit left at Queen Mary Street & turn right onto River Road N.  Park on one of 
the side streets & walk across to the river.

Today began with some early morning drizzle and mist with heavy overcast
prevailing throughout the day. Winds were light out of the southwest. 

Observations:
A single bird was recorded  after limited coverage at the watch: an adult
female Northern Goshawk.
