Both species were observed this afternoon.
To find the adult male SNOWY OWL take highway 417 and turn off at the St-Isidore exit (no. 51). Take Cty Rd 9 north, then turn left (west) on Concession Rd 20. Go about 1 km until you see the sign post with 3946. The owl was sitting in the middle of the field on the north side of the road.

To find the female BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER take highway 417 and turn off at exit 58. Follow Cty Rd 8 north until you see a larch (Tamarack) stand on your right. The larch plantation is a few kilometres before the turn off onto the Clarence-Cambridge Rd at the long curve. You can park on a dirt road that borders the larch stand. The Black-backed Woodpecker was observed 25 metres up the dirt road. At different stops along the Clarence-Cambridge Rd I also found 8 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS AND 9 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES.
