At 3:30pm this afternoon a brown first winter NORTHERN SHRIKE make a brief visit to our backyard feeder.
After scattering nuthatches, goldfinches, downies and juncoes, the shrike sat next to the feeders for about 15 seconds then flew off into the woods. As an aside this is the 198th species for our yard. Good birding!
