A GGO was seen at the same location on both Sunday and Monday afternoons, just west of the footbridge on the north side of the pond.

While Wild Turkeys are occassionally seen around Stratford, the best evidence we usually get on bird count day is tracks. Last year none were found on count day. This year they were seen everywhere - 55 were reported on that day. Our group saw the first Northern Shrike seen on our count since 1998. A Trumpeter Swan has taken up residence in the Thames River in Mitchell, west of Stratford. Today 4 Mute Swans appeared in Lake Victoria in Queen's Park. Mute Swans in Stratford - what a surprise. But, these are not the domesticated swans people see all summer. These birds have been taken in for the winter. The new birds may be the family of swans that summers in Wildwood Lake near Harrington. A single male Hooded Merganser is attempted to defend his honour against the hundreds of Male Mallards in Lake Victoria in Stratford. Directions for Mitchell swan: Mitchell is 18 km west of Stratford on Highway 8. The swan is most often in the Thames River north of the dam adjacent to Optimist' Park.
