I must like the word Gold - In my report I mention Lesser Goldfinches - that
should have read - lesser Finches

Thanks to Marcel Gahbauer for bringing it to my attention.

Hi Everyone
Today, January 19 , 2005 we saw 2 adult male Barrow's Goldeneye along
the Ottawa River near the Champlain Bridge. Later in the afternoon counted
24 Great Gray Owls between Huntmar Road, March Valley Road and the
intersection of Kilmaurs Side Road and Dunrobin Road.
                                                good birding

Directions: Barrow's Goldeneye: The Champlain Bridge parking lot can be
reached by taking Parkdale Ave. north from Hwy. 417 in Ottawa to the Western
Parkway. Follow parkway west passed Remic Rapids Lookout and continue west
towards Island Park Drive. Just before the lights at Island Park Drive there
is a parking area on your right. The goldeneye's were feeding in a flock of
about 25+ Common Goldeneye's to the right of the parking lot.

GGO: Site 1: From Ottawa travel west bound on Hwy. 417 to the March
Rd./Eagleson Road and exit right onto March Rd. Follow to Klondike Road and
turn right. Go east to March Valley Road and turn left. Follow along making
numerous stops scanning the fields. Late afternoon to dusk maybe the better
time to look.
Site 2: From Ottawa travel west bound on Hwy. 417 to the March Rd./Eagleson
Road and exit right onto March Rd. Follow to Dunrobin Road and turn right
continuing northwest through Woodlawn. At the hill continue straight and
