For the third day there is a solitary sparrow feeding in the same area as the Horned Larks, where I regularly put out seed. The sparrow has a breast pattern similar to an immature Harris'; Vesper and Lincoln's. No facial pattern, no stripes on head, head more pointed than flat, yellow bill, fairly prominent eye ring, no wing bars and is a scratcher. He feeds in the morning and between 4 and 5 in the afternoon. He is becoming tamer about feeding with the H. Larks. I need help in identifying him. I live north of Cobourg, at 2883 Cornish Hollow Road.. Directions: 401 to exit 472, [Burnham St.] north on Burnham about 2-3 minutes to orange flashing light at Dale Road. East on Dale about 1 minute. Watch for Dale Road Variety [quonset hut] on the north side. Put your left turn signal on when you see the store. Turn left almost immediately at Cornish Hollow Rd. The tenth house on the right [east] side is mine. In order to get close to the birds, come along the south side of the house, following the path carved through the snowdrifts. Birders welcome and good luck.
