Hi all:

I accompanied Dan Strickland to check for the Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch at
Chelmsford this morning. Dan had an appointment in nearby Sudbury in the
afternoon, so it seemed like a good day to go. However, we watched the
feeder for one and a half hours in the morning without success.

Later, we discussed the bird with the feeder operator, Mr. Somerset. As of
12:30 p.m., the Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch had not been seen today, nor was it
seen by the feeder operator yesterday (Tuesday, February 1). We were told
that the bird's apparent disappearance had coincided with the onset of
milder temperatures.

We did have great views at the feeder of numerous Pine Grosbeaks and Common
Redpolls, plus at least two Hoary Redpolls.

If the Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch is seen again at this feeder, please post an
update on Ontbirds. Thanks.

Good birding.
