Further to Dave Milsom's post, the Peregrine's were very accommodating today, the pair sitting on the cable bundle, then separating for awhile. It seems they could be around for awhile as were able to watch the pair attempting copulation on the cable bundle, this only happened once in the 2 or so hours we were there. This is encouraging behaviour as this is the time for them to mate - hopefully they'll be successful this time around. They seem to have their favourite perches and it'll be interesting to see where the nest or nesting box will be found.
Among other notables, Redheads, Common and Red Breasted Mergansers, Long Tails, large numbers of Scaup, and 2 White Winged Scoters, Bufflehead, Greater Black Back Gulls. We missed the Eagle, but wondered if the Gulls were "staking" out their territory on the "nesting" berm. This too presents an awesome opportunity to view their nesting habits and antics. Over at Pier 24 (sorry, I don't recall the name of the road) there were about 6-8 Cormorants on the shoreline.
