Little Gulls showed up in greater numbers than expected this morning at
the LIGU Viewing Day at Oshawa 2nd Marsh...in fact, they showed their
largest numbers of the spring. The weather was overcast and drizzly.
Starting at about 7:30 and continuing until at least 9/9:30, there were
7-8 groups of 3-14 individual LIGUs that appeared. Some arrived with
Bonaparte's Gulls and some came in on their own. Unlike last year
though, none of the gulls sat down in the marsh...there are few stranded
snags and no mud flats for them to sit on. Most LIGUs showed aerial
courtship and several flew right over the platform.

The Viewing Week-end continues tomorrow...and LIGUs should predictably
be there, as today.

Other species seen included: Ruddy Duck, Coot, Northern Harrier,
Ring-necked Ducks, Pied-billed Grebe, Northern Shovler, G-w Teal, etc.

Even though the weather conditions were miserable, one observer (Adam
Pinch) was able to catch a glimpse of the warbler in the early afternoon.
The bird was seen at the north end of the transit loop.

Good birding everyone!
