I just received a call at 10:45 am that Barry Cherriere has refound the American Avocets at Hamilton's Van Wagners Beach. There are 12 birds on the beach behind the Lakeland Go Carts track at the west end of Van Wagners Beach Rd. The 13 Willets are also still present on the beach in front of Hutch's Restaurant.
Directions: From the QEW highway in Hamilton, take the Hwy 20 (Centennial Parkway) exit, go north to the North Service Rd; turn left and go west and follow the Service Rd onto Van Wagners Beach Rd; pull into one of the parking lots at Hutch's Restaurant or keep going west to the GO Cart track.
