Very few land bird migrants were in the Tip area this morning, perhaps due to the high easterlies. However, at the Tip were both a sub-adult Lesser Black-backed Gull and two adult Little Gull. Also present this morning are the following: Glossy Ibis -- NW Hillman Marsh (shorebird cell) Summer Tanager -- Sanctuary Picnic Area seasonal trail (north end) Worm-eating Warbler -- Tilden's Woods. Kirtland's Warbler -- extreme north end of Northwest Beach. Two sightings along the west beach trail, going south from the West Beach Parking lot, include Prairie Warbler and Clay-colored Sparrow. Yellow-breasted Chats are being heard from DeLaurier Trail, and the area of the cemetery. On the "Cemetery Trail" which is east of White Pine Picnic Area, there are a few Orange-crowned Warblers as well as other birds feeding on the Gooseberry blossoms. Late yesterday at NW Hillman Marsh (shorebird cell) were the following: Wilson's Phalarope (5) and White-rumped Sandpiper. NEOTROPIC CORMORANT -- We heard today that the bird was reliably reported late yesterday (3:00 p.m.) at Port Alma.
